1. GENERAL SECURITY TIPS:
  1. Ensure your computer has up-to-date anti-virus software / internet security software to detect and prevent online attacks.
  2. Always install security patches and the latest software updates in your computers and mobile phones.
  3. Use personal firewalls.
  4. Disconnect your internet connection when not in use.
  5. Avoid using computers in public places like internet cafes, hotels and airport lounges to do online banking..
  6. Always “sign-out” or “log-off” from password protected websites when finished to prevent unauthorized access. Just closing the browser window may not actually end your session.
  7. Always use licensed software. Software purchased from untrustworthy sources could have virus or trojans that could corrupt your files and/or reveal your confidential data.
  8. Always shop or make payments through trusted/reputed websites.
  9. Never provide your financial information to any unfamiliar websites.
  10. Before entering your personal/financial details, verify the URL of the site.
  11. Check your account statements regularly and inform any suspicious transaction to the bank.
  12. Do not click on links in emails or on referral sites to visit the website. Always type the URL in the address bar.
  13. Do not enter your confidential account information such as Credit Card Numbers, Expiry Date, CVV values, etc. on any pop-up windows while browsing.
  14. Register for SMS alerts to keep track of your banking transactions
  15. Always inform the bank of changes in your mobile number to ensure that SMS notifications are not sent to someone
  16. Monitor your transactions regularly and immediately report any misuse of your account to the Bank.
  17. Never give your PIN or confidential information over the phone or internet. Never share these details with anyone.
  18. Beware of shoulder surfers. Ensure that no one is watching you while you key in your User ID, Password, or any other sensitive information.
  19. Be careful about the websites you are browsing, if it does not look authentic, immediately close it.

2. PASSWORD SECURITY TIPS
  1. Keep your Login ID and password confidential and do not disclose it to anybody.
  2. Do not click on links in the emails or sites to access your SIB Internet Banking webpage.
  3. Always visit the SIB Internet Banking site through SIB website by typing the bank's website address (www.sib.ae) on to the browser's address bar.
  4. Use the virtual keyboard feature in SIB Internet Banking.This helps avoid any software from storing the information that you have typed using the keyboard.
  5. Do not access Internet banking or do online shopping in cyber cafes/other public places, as these places may have software that can track your activity.
  6. Always verify the authenticity of the Bank's Internet Banking site by checking the PAD Lock symbol in your browser.
  7. Always cross check your last login information available on your Internet Banking account page upon every login to ascertain your last login and monitor any unauthorized logins. Inform any suspicious activity to the Bank.
  8. Always type in your confidential account information. Do not copy paste it.
  9. Always logout when you exit Internet Banking.Do not directly close the browser.

3. PHISHING SECURITY TIPS
  1. Be cautious of emails asking for personal or confidential information.
  2. SIB will never request personal or sensitive information via email. Never respond to emails that request personal or financial information. Never give out passwords, pin and other personal details to anyone or any website.
  3. Don’t use links in an email to connect to a website unless you are absolutely sure they are authentic.It is always recommended to open a new browser window and type the URL directly into the address bar.Phishing website may look identical to the original website.Always verify the URL at the address bar.
  4. Never submit confidential information via forms embedded within email messages.Senders are often able to track all information entered.
  5. Make sure you maintain effective and updated Internet Security Software to combat phishing.
  6. When you access your Internet Banking facility, check for security certificates.
  7. Don’t respond to email with messages like referred below. "For security and maintenance of your account", "For investigation of irregularities”, "Your account has been frozen", "Your credit card has been cancelled" or even "You have a large sum of money in your account, please verify the withdrawals”. This is intended to increase the likelihood of you clicking on the hyperlink to sign on or complete a set of questions.

4. MOBILE BANKING SECURITY TIPS:
  1. Set up a Pin/password to access the handset menu on your mobile phone.
  2. Delete junk message and chain messages regularly.
  3. Install latest security patches and software updates in your mobile phone.
  4. Keep your mobile's operating system and applications, including the browser, updated with the latest security patches and upgrades.
  5. Do not download program/apps from unsecured sources.Only download apps from official app stores such as Apple iTunes, Android Marketplace, Google Play Store and BlackBerry App World.
  6. Do not use "jail broken" or "rooted" devices for online banking.
  7. Always log off from your online session. Do not just close your mobile phone browser.
  8. Remove temporary files and the cache stored in the memory of your mobile phone regularly since they may contain sensitive information such as your account number.
  9. Delete sensitive SMS messages if they are no longer required.
  10. Don’t store personal/sensitive information such as credit card details, mobile banking, user ID/ password, etc. on your phone.
  11. Do not leave your mobile phone unattended.
  12. Avoid sharing your mobile phone with others.
  13. Do not keep sensitive information such as your account numbers, PIN and logon passwords in your mobile phone.
  14. Report a lost or stolen phone immediately to your service provider.Also, call our 24-hour Customer Care to disable the Mobile application.
  15. Be cautious while accepting offers such as caller tunes or dialer tunes or open/download emails or attachments from known or unknown sources.
  16. Be cautious while using Bluetooth in public places as someone may access your confidential data/information.
  17. Do not follow any URL in message that you are not sure about it.
  18. If possible, maximize the security features by enabling encryption, remote wipe and location tracking on device.
  19. Turn off wireless device services, while not in use.
  20. Avoid using unsecured Wi-Fi in public or shared networks.
